Scooter Rider Dies Days After Crash, Investigation Ongoing: San Jose Police
The man was injured in a crash earlier this month.
SAN JOSE, CA — A man injured in an electric scooter crash in San Jose has died, marking the city's 22nd traffic-related fatality of 2026, police said.
The crash occurred at about 4:56 p.m. June 9 near Commercial Street and Oakland Road, San Jose police noted.
According to a preliminary investigation by the San Jose Police Department, the rider was traveling eastbound in a westbound bike lane on a black Segway electric scooter when he lost control at a high rate of speed and fell.

Police said the rider was not wearing a helmet. He was taken to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and later stabilized.
Investigators learned Tuesday that the man died from his injuries on June 13, police said.

The Santa Clara County Medical Examiner's Office will release the victim's identity.
