Celebrate National Sandwich Day in Capitola-Soquel

Did you know that Nov. 3 is National Sandwich Day?

According to PunchBowl.com, the day was planned for this date because it is also the birthday of John Montagu, the fourth Earl of Sandwich.

"This 18th century English noble wanted to eat his meal with one hand during a 24-hour gambling event, so he instructed his servants to serve him his lunchmeat between two slices of bread," the site says.

In Capitola and Soquel, there are plenty of places to celebrate National Sandwich Day.

At in Soquel, the sandwich menu is extensive. Patch recommends the shrimp and crab sandwich as well as the tri-tip sandwich, meant to replicate a Philly cheesesteak. In Capitola, the grilled eggplant sandwich with caramelized onions and Gouda cheese at is another winner.
