Community Rallies for Family of Soquel Man Shot Dead This Week
Husband and father Santiago Avalos Sanchez, 28, was killed and another woman injured. Watsonville suspect arrested. [BREAKING]

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY, CA – An online fundraiser has been set up for the family of a man fatally shot in Soquel area in Santa Cruz County on Monday afternoon.
Santiago Avalos Sanchez, 28, was one of two victims in a shooting reported at North Rodeo Gulch Road and Soquel Drive around 2:30 p.m., Santa Cruz County sheriff's officials said.
Sanchez was transported to a hospital where he died of his injuries.

He leaves behind a wife and two children, according to the Soquel Elementary Home and School Club that has started a GoFundMe page to support his surviving family members.

A 32-year-old Watsonville woman also injured in the shooting was sent to a hospital in stable condition, according to the sheriff's office.
Jose Luis Ramos, 31, of Watsonville, was identified as a suspect in the shooting and was booked into Santa Cruz County Jail, where he's being held in lieu of $2 million bail. He was scheduled for arraignment today in
Santa Cruz County Superior Court.
Investigators determined that Ramos knew the female victim, sheriff's officials said.
After the shooting, detectives found Ramos and his car in the 300 block of Porter Street and arrested him. He allegedly had methamphetamine and a methamphetamine pipe with him during his arrest, sheriff's officials said.
