Public's Help Sought To ID Murder Victim From 2010 In Santa Cruz County
He was found in a wooded area in Watsonville and died a violent death, according to the Sheriff's Office.
Santa Cruz County sheriff’s officials are asking for the public’s help in identifying a man whose decomposed body was found dead north of Watsonville in 2010.
The body was found at 10:07 a.m. on Sept. 9, 2010, in a wooded area in the 300 block of Casserly Road, according to the sheriff’s office.
The victim was determined to be a Hispanic man, possibly of Oaxacan origin, who was believed to have been between 20 and 30 years old, between 4 feet 11 inches and 5 feet 4 inches tall and died a violent death two to four weeks before his body was discovered, sheriff’s officials said.

An additional examination of the man’s remains has since found that he had a significant physical handicap that limited the range of his arm motion and rotation of his forearms and prevented him from being able to extend his arms straight, according to the sheriff’s office. Sheriff’s detectives are hoping that the new information will help someone remember a man with that condition.
Anyone with information about the identity of the man is encouraged to call the sheriff’s office at (831) 454-7630.
