Two Families Displaced After Mt. Madonna Fire

Thier homes were destroyed in the Monday blaze.

A two-alarm fire near Mt. Madonna County Park west of Gilroy destroyed two homes and displaced two families Monday afternoon, a Cal Fire spokeswoman said today.

The fire, which was reported around 12:30 p.m. on Whitehurst Road off Hecker Pass Road, began in one home and then spread to the second, according to Cal Fire fire prevention specialist Pam Temmermand.

The two structures were badly damaged and two families were displaced, Temmermand said.

The fire was contained at 6:30 p.m. No injuries were reported and the cause of the blaze remains under investigation.

The families were referred to the American Red Cross for assistance.
