In mid-early August every year, Maeya Academy hosts the International Kids’ Film Camp prior to the San Diego International Kids’ Film Festival. The film camp is divided into two film teams according to the schedule of the back to school time and travel arrangement. The Camp in San diego is more suitable for the domesti students while the Los Angeles camp is better for the international students. Each film team will follow the camp teachers from project establish, screenplay selection, and first-hand operation to learn the film production process, to help children find out where their interests lie. The films directed by the teachers are divided into many categories, such as stop-motion animation, documentary, and feature film. Children can choose a shooting style and direction according to their own interests. For film camp members who are non-English speakers, Maeya Group has specially arranged life teachers and translation teachers to help many children who are going away from home for the first time to solve life and language problems. English will be the main language of instruction throughout the film camp, and there will be an on-class translator to help students solve the puzzles caused by the language barrier in the course.
