Allen's Hummingbird At Batiquitos Lagoon: Photo Of The Day

CARLSBAD, CA — Patch reader and local photographer Bob Thompson captured this photo of an Allen's hummingbird at Batiquitos Lagoon.

"While trying to get pics of a hooded oriole, up in a Carrotwood tree, this beautiful female Allen's hummingbird flew up next to me, and started feeding on these red and yellow flowers," Thompson said. "The morning sun lit this bird up so nicely."
