Hazardous Waste Disposal Available Year-Round

The city of Carlsbad advises residents that they may drop off hazardous materials year-round at two free drop-off centers: PSC  HHW facility, 1145 East Taylor St., Vista, 800-714-1195 and the Waste Management HHW facility, 2880 Industry St., Oceanside, 760-929-9400.

Proof of residency is required. Door-to-door collection appointments are also available year-round for a $10 co-pay. For more information, call 800-714-1195.

Eligible disposal items include: aerosols, asbestos (3-foot sections), all-purpose cleaners, anti-freeze, auto batteries and fluids, disinfectants, drain openers, fertilizers, fluorescent bulbs, furniture polish, stains, gasoline, glue, household batteries, household cleaners, insecticides, kerosene, lighter fluid, mercury thermostats, motor oil, oil filters, oven cleaner, latex paint, oil-based paint, pesticides, herbicides. pool chemicals, solvents, thinners, varnishes and E-waste.
