SDG&E Expands Lower-Cost Daytime Electricity Pricing
Previously, lower-priced midday hours were limited to March and April.
SAN DIEGO, CA — San Diego Gas & Electric will expand its lower-cost daytime electricity pricing year-round starting May 1, giving customers more hours to reduce their electric bills by shifting energy use.
The utility announced that super off-peak pricing will now be available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on weekdays throughout the year. Previously, lower-priced midday hours were limited to March and April.
Company officials said the expanded hours align with periods when more renewable energy is available on the grid, helping reduce overall electricity costs.

"This change gives customers more control," SDG&E Chief Customer Officer Dana Golan said in a statement. "Expanding super off‑peak hours year-round gives people more options to save in ways that work for their households.”
Super off-peak rates are the lowest in SDG&E's Time-of-Use pricing plans and are intended to encourage customers to shift electricity use to periods of lower demand and cost.
