Carlsbad Commissions To Discuss Housing Element Update
The Housing Commission meeting is Thursday, Feb. 9 and the Planning Commission meeting is Wednesday, Feb. 15.

CARLSBAD, CA – In an effort to ensure Carlsbad can meet future housing needs, community input on the city's housing element will be welcome at two upcoming meetings.
Carlsbad's Housing and Planning commissions are both set to discuss an update to the city's housing element, a state-mandated plan that looks at housing, including a variety of housing types, densities and options for low-income residents and those with special needs.
The California Department of Housing and Community Development gave the city its preliminary approval of the draft housing element in late December.

The housing element will be presented to the Carlsbad City Council for approval this spring, following a recommendation from both city commissions. After council approval, the housing element will go back to the state for final review and approval within 90 days of submission.
The Housing Commission meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 9. The Planning Commission meeting will begin at 6 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 15. Both will take place in the Council Chamber, located at 1200 Carlsbad Village Drive.
