Carlsbad Executive to Hold Leadership Position on Military Council
Former Raytheon executive and Transatlantic Insights president Edward Hanlon will represent the interests of the military at the capitol.

OCEANSIDE, CA - Assemblyman Rocky Chavez, R-Oceanside, and four other San Diego County residents were reappointed by Gov. Jerry Brown today to the Governor's Military Council.
Chavez, 64, has served on the panel, which works to strengthen California's support for the military and the 30 or so major installations in the state, since 2013.
The retired Marine officer, a former member of the Oceanside City Council, was previously undersecretary at the state Department of Veterans Affairs.

Also reappointed to the council were:
-- Edward Hanlon, Jr., 71, of Carlsbad, president of Transatlantic Insights LLC and a former top executive at Raytheon;

-- James A. Johnson, 71, of San Diego, a former admiral in the Navy Medical Corps who headed Naval Medical Center San Diego;
-- Dennis Kenneally, 69, of San Diego, executive director of the Southwest Defense Alliance, a lecturer on homeland security and emergency management at San Diego State University and principal consultant at Business Associates International; and
-- Kenneth Slaght, 66, of San Diego, president of the San Diego Cyber Center of Excellence and a former rear admiral.
Hanlon will serve as vice chairman.
All are Republicans except for Johnson. The positions do not require Senate confirmation and there is no compensation.
