Carlsbad Police Department Gets Traffic Safety Grant

"The mission of the police department's traffic unit is to ensure safety of all who travel on Carlsbad's roadways."

CARLSBAD, CA — The Carlsbad Police Department has received a $108,000 grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety. The grant will fund a variety of traffic safety programs in an effort to reduce deaths and injuries on Carlsbad's roadways.

"The mission of the police department's traffic unit is to ensure safety of all who travel on Carlsbad's roadways," police Lt. Steve Thomas said. "We are grateful for this grant as it provides funding for education and enhanced safety programs that will further this mission."

The one-year grant is for the 2022 federal fiscal year, which runs from Oct. 1, 2021 to Sept. 30, 2022.

"Through education that leads to behavioral changes, we hope to create an environment that is safe and equitable for all who use Carlsbad's roadways," Thomas said.
