Carlsbad Resident Arrested In 2022 Fentanyl-Related Death
The 51-year-old man suspected in the Temecula death was found at the border, and arrested by Riverside County Sheriff's Department deputies.

CARLSBAD, CA —A 51-year-old Carlsbad resident suspected of selling fentanyl to a man who died in a bathroom in Temecula over one year ago was in custody Wednesday.
The suspect, Kevin Bryant, was discovered at the San Ysidro Port of Entry Sunday. He was arrested by personnel from the Riverside County Sheriff's Department's Overdose Death Investigations and Narcotics Unit and taken into custody without incident, according to Sgt. Sean Liebrand.
Bryant was booked into the Byrd Detention Center on suspicion of murder, Liebrand said. He is being held on $1 million bail and is scheduled to appear at the Southwest Justice Center in Murrieta at 8:30 a.m. on March 14.

Deputies were dispatched to the 27500 block of Jefferson Avenue in Temecula on Feb. 12, 2022, at around 7:10 p.m. after reports of an unresponsive man inside a bathroom stall, Liebrand said.
Deputies attempted lifesaving measures for Cameron Trask, 43, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. Trask died as a result of fentanyl poisoning, according to the coroner's bureau.

It took several months of investigation to identify Bryant as the person who sold the fentanyl to Trask, Liebrand said.
Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to call Investigator Garcia-Flores at 951-955-1700.
"The Riverside County Sheriff’s Office wants to remind citizens of the dangers of illicit narcotics, many of which may contain Fentanyl," Liebrand said. "Fentanyl is a synthetic opioid that is 100 times stronger than morphine and can cause death or serious bodily harm."
