Discover Music Series, Part 1: Sound Discovery

Educator and musician Craig Woodson, Ph.D, presents a “World Orchestra You Can Build” for children in kindergarten through fifth grade and their families.   Beginning with the musical bow, this program continues through different instrument families and cultures, showing how sound is created and how to make instruments with simple materials.  After performing in an “Audestra,” or audience orchestra, children then create the Drumpet, a five in one instrument, which they use to compose, conduct and jam together.  This event is FREE and is made possible in part by a community arts grant from the City of Carlsbad’s Cultural Arts Office.  For more information, visit www.museumofmakingmusic.org.
