North County Celebrity Sonnets in Carlsbad June 4

Please join us for this exciting FREE event at the in Carlsbad. 

We will have a number of local celebrities presenting Shakespeare’s sonnets, some in ways you have never seen before.  Join young acting sensation Austyn Myers and others in a magical evening of poetry, music, and fun. 

Claudia Russell, program director at Jazz 88.3 (where she hosts a M-F show, The Jazz Ride Home), will be the emcee for the evening, introducing our selection of exciting performers.  With Jeff Dalrymple, also from Jazz 88.3, she will also present two sonnets in the style of Beat poets, complete with Bongos.  It is just the start of an exciting evening of theatre.

Confirmed performers:

Austyn Meyers, actor at The Old Globe and in movies.  He starred in Brighton Beach Memoirs at the Old Globe and is currently working on Master Harold and the Boys.

Scott Farrell, Chivalry Today, author in the new anthology on Steampunk Shakespeare.  Scott will give a fencing demonstration to accompany his sonnets.

T.B. Smith, author of The Sticking Place about a Shakespeare-quoting cop in San Diego. He will be signing his book at a table before and after the event. He will also be donating 10% of all sales from his website or at the event to the San Diego Shakespeare Society for the entire month of June.

In addition,  the performance will feature students from the Theatre School at North Coast Rep;  Drama Department students ; Aimee Greenberg, actress, director of the SDSS’s North County Open Readings; actor Rhys Green;  William Nericcio, Professor at SDSU; Veronica Murphy and Walter Ritter from Write Out Loud; and more.
