Carlsbad Cultural Arts Office presents This Is Jazz! - part multi-media lecture, part conversation, part musical demonstration – curated by jazz writer/lecturer Dirk Sutro debuted to full houses last year. With interviews and live performances by leading San Diego musical guests along with recorded examples and photos, this free series traces the history and elements of jazz, the original American art.
On April 21, the guest artists are the Peter Sprague Trio, featuring our region's most acclaimed guitarist, discussing and demosntrating the elctric guitar's influence on jazz.
Entrance tickets to This Is Jazz! are distributed starting at 3:00 p.m.; doors open at 3:45 p.m. This Is Jazz! is made possible by the Carlsbad Library and Arts Foundation’s Robert H. Gartner Cultural Endowment Fund.
