A 24-hour Relay for Life fundraiser sponsored by the American Cancer Society kicks off with the opening ceremony and survivor walk at 9 a.m. July 26 and continues until 9 a.m. July 27 with food, games and auction at Valley Middle School, 1645 Magnolia Ave. in Carlsbad. Participants include cancer survivors and supporters. The event remembers people lost to the disease and honors those fighting cancer. A Luminaria Ceremony is set for 8 p.m. July 26.
