Legoland California's Galacticoaster Wins Top Theme Park Honor

CARLSBAD, CA — Legoland California Resort's new Galacticoaster has been named the No. 1 Best Theme Concept in Amusement Today's 2026 Golden Ticket Awards.

The family coaster, which anchors the new Lego Galaxy land at the Carlsbad theme park, also ranked No. 4 for Best New Attraction Installation and No. 5 for Best New Coaster. The honors were shared with the Galacticoaster at Legoland Florida Resort.

Galacticoaster and Lego Galaxy opened earlier this year at both resorts as part of what parent company Merlin Entertainments has described as its largest single in-park investment in its U.S. attractions.

The ride allows guests to design a digital Lego spacecraft before boarding, choosing from more than 625 combinations of features. The customized spacecraft is saved to a RFID-enabled wristband and appears on digital screens during the ride.

"Galacticoaster and Lego Galaxy were created to give families a completely new way to experience the magic of Legoland and space exploration by combining the imagination and storytelling of Lego with the excitement of a thrilling attraction," said Tom Storer, North America project director for Merlin Magic Making.

Legoland Florida Resort also ranked No. 3 for Best Family Park.

Amusement Today presents the Golden Ticket Awards annually based on voting by amusement park industry professionals and enthusiasts.
