Mariachi Divas Make Beautiful Music

Grammy Award-winning musicians will perform at Carlsbad City Library Learning Center on Sept. 22.

The Carlsbad City Library Learning Center will be celebrating Hispanic Heritage Month with a special concert featuring Mariachi Divas Quartet on Sept. 22 at 6:30 p.m. This unique all-female, multicultural band is making a third appearance at the Library Learning Center, having first performed at the facility’s grand opening n August 2008.

The Mariachi Divas were founded in 1999 by trumpet player Cindy Shea. Their success has included a Grammy Award in 2009 for Best Regional Mexican Album of the Year and performances for numerous international presidents and governors. Since 2003, they have also been the official mariachis of Disney’s California Adventure. In June 2010, they released their sixth CD, “Viva la Diva,” featuring original music, mariachi classics and a tribute to Michael Jackson.

A lively quartet version of this talented group will be performing a free, one-hour concert appropriate for all ages. Seating is limited and first come, first served. The Carlsbad City Library Learning Center is located at 3368 Eureka Place, adjacent to Holiday Park.
