Mayor Announces Leave of Absence In Nearby Oceanside

BREAKING: Jim Wood, the city's mayor for the past 13 years, is hospitalized for medical reasons.

OCEANSIDE, CA – Oceanside Mayor Jim Wood is taking a leave of absence for undisclosed health reasons, the city announced today.

Wood, the mayor of the North County coastal city for 13 years, will remain away from the job through the City Council meeting of Aug. 9. The mayor holds a City Council seat.

According to the city, the former police officer and Navy corpsman is hospitalized and scheduled to undergo a medical procedure within the next week. His family is asking for privacy regarding his condition.
