Multi-Vehicle Crash Snarls Traffic On I-5 Near Carlsbad

CARLSBAD, CA — A crash involving seven vehicles blocked multiple lanes Tuesday on southbound Interstate 5 near Carlsbad, authorities said.

The crash was reported about 11:40 a.m. on southbound I-5 just north of Cannon Road, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Officials said the right lanes were blocked and were expected to remain closed for about an hour while officers investigated the crash.

Traffic on southbound I-5 was heavily congested from state Route 78 to Cannon Road.
