Pedestrian Fatally Struck By Minivan In North County

The driver of the minivan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, officials said.

SAN MARCOS, CA — A pedestrian was fatally struck by a minivan Friday in North San Diego County, authorities said.

Deputies responded to reports of a traffic collision around 7:50 p.m. Friday in the 1100 block of West Mission Road in San Marcos, according to the San Diego County Sheriff's Office.

A black Honda Odyssey minivan had struck a pedestrian and that the victim was found lying in the westbound lanes of West San Marcos Boulevard, sheriff's officials said. Deputies and paramedics provided lifesaving measures at the scene, but the pedestrian died at 8:15 p.m.

The driver of the minivan remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators, officials said. It remains unclear if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash.
