Research 5, Interview 3, Select 1

As always, our formula for hiring a great team member is to research 5, interview 3, and hire 1 person to work for you.  You may have received great recommendations from friends and family members, and you might feel comfortable with the first agent that you interview.  If so, hire her on the spot; and that’s fine, too.

As we discussed, a real estate agent may have been faithfully sending you email alerts for the past several months. If so, I would encourage you to interview her first and give her the first opportunity to work for you, since she has already proven that she can do a great job for you.

During your transaction, if you have a problem with your agent, you should talk to the agent’s broker.  If it’s still not resolved, you can contact their local Realtor® association.  That’s an important reason to make sure that your agent is a Realtor®.  However, if you’ve received a great referral, done your research, and interviewed as we suggested, you shouldn’t ever need to worry about firing your agent.
