Sea of Orange at Pacific Rim Elementary
Each month the Carlsbad school has a first Friday assembly where the students wear a certain color to represent a value. This month they wore orange and learned about fairness.
Every student at has a bright orange shirt. The shirts were given to them by the parent volunteer group "Friends of Pacific Rim."
Sandra Alston, President of Friends of Pacific Rim, tells Carlsbad Patch, "it all started with a field trip to the zoo. I had to watch six kids and one had an orange shirt. He was so easy to spot, so we decided to make 'field trip shirts.' Then we won the CA Distinguished School award and we made shirts for everyone."
The first Friday of every month the school holds an assembly and they pick a color for the students to wear, which also represents a characteristic of the school.

On Feb. 3 the color choice was orange and the characteric trait was "fairness." Alston thought it would be fun for Carlsbad Patch readers to see a sea of orange.
