Cannabis Burglary Crew Arrested in Carpinteria (crimevoice.com) — Law enforcement has issued felony warrants for 17 adults after two large cannabis burglaries at a Carpinteria-area cultivation site earlier this year, with several suspects already jailed. Deputies say masked crews stole about 2,000 pounds of cannabis worth over $500,000, and multiple arrests followed traffic collisions in Carpinteria as detectives pieced together identities from surveillance footage.

Longtime Birnam Wood Bartender Was Victim in Fatal Montecito Traffic Collision (noozhawk.com) — Carpinteria regulars are mourning Pedro Rivera, assistant general manager at Teddy’s By the Sea and longtime Birnam Wood Golf Club bartender, who was fatally struck by a car in Montecito. Friends and colleagues describe him as a warm, steady presence, and a GoFundMe has already raised tens of thousands of dollars to help his family with funeral and other expenses.
