The father later died at a local hospital, and authorities have not yet released the names or clarified whether the son or mother were injured.
2. 1 Person Suffers Major Injuries in Castro Valley Pedestrian Crash at Center Street and Grove Way (pacificattorneygroup.com) — A pedestrian suffered major injuries after being hit by a black truck Wednesday night at Center Street and Grove Way in Castro Valley, near the Arco station. One lane was closed while the California Highway Patrol responded and began investigating what led to the crash. Authorities have not yet released further details about the victim or cause.
3. List: National Merit Scholarship semifinalists from the Bay Area, class of 2027 (mercurynews.com) — Castro Valley High students Kaitlyn Choong, Kedaar Garg, and Tulasi Venkatesh have been named National Merit Scholarship semifinalists, putting them among the top-scoring seniors nationwide. 5. BART halts Green Line service for repairs after equipment issues, substation fire cause delays (kioncentralcoast.com) — BART riders in and around Castro Valley are feeling the ripple effects of a substation fire near Daly City, with a PG&E outage between Castro Valley and Dublin/Pleasanton causing major delays. Green Line service is suspended between Berryessa and Daly City, but all stations remain open and riders can reroute via the Blue and Orange lines through Bay Fair while repairs continue.
