On April 11th Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) held its annual LeaR4n Bay-Friendly Gardening Workshop. Registrants enjoyed a relaxed atmosphere while learning about bay-friendly gardening, growing edibles, and techniques for building healthy soil in their home gardens.
Following the presentation Lori Caldwell from StopWaste led a group discussion. The workshop ended with a raffle drawing for fun prizes such as a worm bin and a sheet mulch tote bag. All attendees received a reusable mesh produce bag which helps reduce plastic bag waste.
CVSan’s next free LeaR4n workshop on Saturday, June 24th from 6:00 p.m.– 8:00 p.m. is a screening of the documentary Just Eat It. Register online for this event at www.cvsan.org/learn.
