Update: Castro Valley Homicide Investigated by Alameda County Sheriff's Office

One person was shot dead in front of his own home.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — The Alameda County Sheriff's Office is investigating a homicide in Castro Valley Monday evening.

A 37-year-old man was shot and killed in front of his own home, in the 4100 block of Wilson Avenue at Redwood Road. The victim's name has not been released.

No suspects have been arrested.

The victim was shot several times and was pronounced dead at the scene.

Deputies are searching for surveillance video in the neighborhood and interviewing neighbors to find out what they saw and heard.

Sgt. Ray Kelly called the murder disturbing, "A crime of this magnitude is very uncommon in Castro Valley, especially in this particular neighborhood," Kelly said. "There's a lot of concern by not only the citizens, but the sheriff's office as well."

"We're also trying to figure out a little more about our victim and see why someone would want to kill him," Kelly said.
