Castro Valley Sanitary District Awarded Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting
CVSan has been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Financial Reporting for the second year.
Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) in recognition of its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the 2015/16 fiscal year. The certificate is the highest form of recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting. This is the second year CVSan has applied for and received the award.
To receive this certificate, a government agency must demonstrate that its CAFR meets the scope, audit requirements, and legal compliance standards of GFOA. Reviews are performed by GFOA staff and members of GFOA’s Special Review Committee, which comprises individuals from government, the public accounting profession, and academia who possess specialized expertise in governmental financial reporting.
