Cat-astrophe Averted: Feline Rescued in Castro Valley

She doesn't appear to be especially grateful for the assistance.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — Thanks to some determined firefighters, this black cat in Castro Valley didn't have to give up any of its 9 lives on Tuesday when it got stuck in a storm drain on Sherman Drive.

The Alameda County Fire Department posted these photos on social media. They wrote, "The cat was trapped for an unknown amount of time under the street in between 2 storm drains. E-7 brought the cat back to the station and cared for it until animal control arrived."

If you're missing a black cat, check with the animal shelter.
