Coronavirus In Alameda County: 713 Cases Confirmed

Alameda County is now sharing city-level data about coronavirus patients.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — There have been 713 cases of confirmed coronavirus in Alameda County, the Alameda County Public Health Department reported on Thursday. The death toll increased to 17.

This week the county health department unveiled its new COVID-19 dashboard with information about patient gender, age, city, deaths and more. While you can look at incorporated cities, such as Hayward where 143 cases have been reported, unincorporated communities such as Castro Valley and San Lorenzo are lumped together. There have been 84 cases in the unincorporated communities. (See below)

The City of Fremont began closing several parking lots at Central Park where popular Lake Elizabeth is located on Thursday, in a effort to keep people from driving into the area.

The City of Berkeley, which has its own health department, reported its first coronavirus death Thursday.

Contra Costa County also recently built out its coronavirus dashboard to include city-level data, the number of new COVID-19 cases, the total number of cases, the number of deaths related to the virus, the number of patients hospitalized and the total number of tests administered.

Good news: a group of high school students is raising money to purchase personal protective equipment (PPEs) for Bay Area hospitals, including a junior at Bishop O'Dowd High School in Oakland.
