Coronavirus Nursing Home Outbreak In Castro Valley: Reports
Both patients and staff members have reportedly tested positive. A separate outbreak is reported in Hayward.
CASTRO VALLEY, CA — An outbreak of COVID-19 caused by the coronavirus has been reported at at East Bay Post-Acute Center in Castro Valley, according to multiple reports.
At least 12 staff members and nine patients have tested positive for the virus, forcing the hospitalization of one patient.
Shane McCormack, Administrator of East Bay Post-Acute Center, told CBS-SF that all of the infected staff members are experiencing mild symptoms and are isolating at home. However, one of the patients is hospitalized because of the virus, while the other eight are being kept at the care center away from other patients.

Alameda Coutny health officials also confirmed an outbreak of COVID-19 at the Gateway Care and Rehabilitation Center in Hayward, according to CBS-SF and the Mercury-News, but the number of infected and their conditions is not immediately available.
Gateway Care and Rehabilitation Center is at 26660 Patrick Ave., Hayward.
