CVHS Homecoming Itinerary: Bringing Pixar Movie Magic to Campus
From building floats to song girl skits, Patch keeps you and your Castro Valley High School student posted with important dates leading up to this year's Homecoming parade and football game against Arroyo High School on Oct. 21.
For students and alumni, Homecoming has long been centered around class spirit.
The annual tradition creates memorable moments for current students and welcomes back alumni to relive cherished memories at their alma mater.
Each class competes against one another in daily activities and are given points based on participation, sportsmanship, and other qualities. To view the various Homecoming activities and see how many points each event is worth, check out the attached PDF of the Homecoming Handbook.

This year's Homecoming theme is Pixar movies. Each class will represent the following films: seniors have "Up," juniors have "Monsters Inc.," sophomores have "Wall-E," and freshmen have "Finding Nemo."

Homecoming National Anthem Tryouts — Oct. 11 to Oct. 14; During lunch at room 602 (click here to view CVHS's modified homecoming bell schedule)
Show off your vocal talents during the National Anthem try outs. Two performers are needed for Homecoming: someone to sing at the assembly and someone to sing at the football game.
Kick Off for Campus-Wide Work Parties — Oct. 15; 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. throughout campus
Lend a helping hand toward building your class float. All four floats will be driven down Redwood Road for the Homecoming parade. The floats will be handcrafted by students (with a little help from parents and community volunteers). Not sure what to expect? Check out a video of .
Floats aren't the only things students will be working on. Girls and guys participating in choreographed class performances will begin rehearing their routines.
Campus-Wide Work Parties Continued — Oct. 16 to Oct. 20; 3:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. throughout campus
Class March and Cheer — Oct. 16 to Oct. 20; During lunch (click here to view CVHS's modified homecoming bell schedule) in the courtyard, with juniors on Monday, sophomores on Tuesday, freshmen on Wednesday and seniors on Thursday.
Strut in your class colors (seniors, purple; juniors, blue; sophomores, red; freshmen; orange) and cheer as loud as you can while marching through the courtyard. Make sure to dress in themes attire corresponding to your class' movie. Not sure what to wear? Check out the attached PDF with the dress-up schedule.
Homecoming Assembly and Parade — Oct. 21; 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. along Redwood Road and inside the Athletic Stadium
After hours of rehersals, construction work, and more school spirit than any one student can handle, it all comes down to this as each class presents their skits and floats to the Castro Valley community, their school and most importantly, the Homecoming judges.
Homecoming Football Game — Oct. 21; Athletic Stadium (gates open at 4 p.m.)
Pre-sale tickets for the Homecoming football game again the Arroyo Dons will be sold at the Athletic Stadium ticket booth on Tuesday, Oct. 18 and Thursday, Oct. 20 from 4 to 7 p.m. They can also be purchased on Friday, Oct. 21 from 12 to 3 p.m.
Cost: $4 for students with an ASB sticker and senior citizens; $6 for adults and students without an ASB sticker. Gates open at 4 pm.
Homecoming Dance — Oct. 22; 7 to 10 p.m. in the courtyard
Whether its to celebrate a win from the game or your class racking up the most points or to just have a good time, end Homecoming week on a musical note!
