Last month the Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) was honored to receive two prestigious awards recognizing its efforts in maintaining a high quality sewer system and preventing workplace injuries.

On January 18th, CVSan was named the California Water Environmental Association (CWEA)’s 2018 Collection System of the Year in the San Francisco Section Small Collection System Category. This award recognizes CVSan’s outstanding efforts and achievements in servicing and protecting its sewer system. These efforts have resulted in there being no sewer overflows within CVSan’s boundaries since January 2018.

The following week, CVSan was honored again by receiving the California Sanitation Risk Management Authority’s (CSRMA) 2018 Workers’ Compensation Excellence Award. This award recognizes CVSan’s current and planned safety procedures designed to reduce workplace hazards. These procedures have resulted in CVSan staff not losing any time due to a workplace injury in over 12 years.
