CVSan: CVSan Achieves California Green Business Recertification
CVSan has been recertified by the Alameda County Green Business Program as a California Green Business.
Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) has been recertified by the Alameda County Green Business Program as a California Green Business. During the process for each certification period, businesses must complete new sustainability measures and show they have maintained green business practices. CVSan has been certified as a California Green Business since 2004 and continues to be committed to the higher environmental standards of the Alameda County Green Business Program.
During the recertification process, CVSan reviewed its energy use, water use, and waste to ensure the most efficient and cost-effective equipment and protocols were in place. CVSan reassessed cleaning products to ensure green products were being used, that staff who are able to walk, jog, or bike to work were supported, and assisted their contractor, Alameda County Industries (ACI), to become certified as a Green Business. CVSan’s Environmentally Preferable Purchasing Policy directs the purchase of products that minimize environmental impacts. As well, CVSan’s new Operations and Engineering Building project will be a green building that will include Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) - certified architecture and Bay-Friendly landscaping. CVSan has a goal of zero waste (90 percent or more diversion) by 2029.
