CVSan Earth Day Donation to Castro Valley Educational Foundation

Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) hosted its 15th annual Earth Day Clean-Up event on April 29, 2017. For the sixth consecutive year, CVSan provided each volunteer the opportunity to select one of four local charities to receive $5.00 on their behalf. CVSan is proudly donating a total of $1,495.00 to charity this year.

One of the charities selected for 2017 donations was the Castro Valley Educational Foundation (CVEF). CVEF has donated more than $350,000 to Castro Valley Unified School District programs since the Foundation’s inception over 30 years ago. CVEF President, Hope Kingma, was presented with the donation of $105.00 at the August 1st CVSan Board of Directors meeting.

Hope stated her gratitude on behalf of the Foundation for the Earth Day volunteers who chose CVEF as their donation recipient. CVSan General Manager, Roland Williams stated that “Castro Valley Education Foundation has several mechanisms for providing support to students and schools including numerous free educational activities (writing workshops, poetry and art shows, science festivals, scientists in the classroom, spelling bees), direct grants to fund specific needs, mini-grants up to $1,500 and scholarships for high school seniors.”
