CVSan Earth Day Donation to Jenny Lin Foundation

Jenny Lin Foundation was presented with a $205 donation at the August 3rd CVSan Board of Directors meeting.

Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) hosted its 17th annual Earth Day Clean-Up event on April 13, 2019. For the eighth consecutive year, CVSan provided each volunteer the opportunity to select one of four local charities to receive $5.00 on their behalf. CVSan is proudly donating a combined total of $1,785.00 to charity this year. One of the charities selected for the 2019 donations was Jenny Lin Foundation (Foundation). Lynn Foy-Couche from the Foundation was presented with the donation of $205.00 at the September 3rd CVSan Board of Directors meeting.

At the meeting, CVSan General Manager Roland Williams stated that over 630 volunteers helped to cleanup and beautify five public sites and 12 schools this past April. Mr. Williams recognized the Foundation, which promotes child safety and youth music education. He stated the Foundation sponsors many music and safety events, which benefit the Easy Bay Community, including a free youth music camp and concert. He added donations may go towards scholarships for young musicians and safety awareness education.

Lynne Foy-Couche of the Foundation thanked the Board and CVSan for considering the Foundation as one of the three charity groups and stated this donation of $205 would help them serve more people throughout the East Bay. She added that the Foundation’s summer music program services all East Bay schools and estimates that about 2,000 – 3,000 lives have been helped by the Foundation since its inception 25 years ago. She also noted that the Lins also want to thank CVSan for the donation and appreciate the community events CVSan hosts, such as the Earth Day event every April.
