CVSan Experiences No Sewer Overflows during January Rainstorms

Despite increased rainfall in January, Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) did not experience any sanitary sewer overflows (SSO). Castro Valley received 6.79 inches of rain during January, including 1.95 inches on January 10th alone. In comparison, Castro Valley received 5.25 inches during January 2016 and no rainfall during January 2015.

Achieving no SSOs during large rainstorms show that CVSan’s sewer system is performing well, and that continued maintenance has been an effective proactive measure. CVSan has continued to be SSO-free for over ten months, ensuring that local creeks and Lake Chabot remain free of unwanted sewage.
