CVSan: Operations and Engineering Building Project Contract Awarded

On Tuesday, December 13th, Castro Valley Sanitary District’s (CVSan’s) Board of Directors (Board) awarded DL Falk Construction, Inc. a $20,844,000.00 contract for the construction of CVSan’s New Operations and Engineering (O&E) Building Project located at the corner of East Castro Valley Boulevard and Center Street. The O&E Building will be a 22,000-square foot two-story building with office space, a boardroom, meeting rooms, and a vehicle bay to securely park CVSan’s maintenance vehicles. Construction is expected to start in early 2023.

In 2013, CVSan conducted a facility needs assessment which determined that CVSan’s existing Marshall Street location is undersized for current operations and staffing levels. In addition to accommodating the staff growth that CVSan has experienced over the past two decades, the new O&E Building will also be able to better address the implications of any future state and local regulations that could require increased minimum staffing levels. As Castro Valley continues to grow, the new O&E Building will ensure that CVSan has the needed capacity to continue to execute CVSan’s mission to protect the environment and provide quality services to the community for the next 80 years.
