CVSan Receives Financial Reporting Award

CASTRO VALLEY, CA – Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) has received the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) in recognition of its Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2017. This is the third year CVSan has applied for and received the award.

The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition for governmental accounting and financial reporting, and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.

This award is not the first recognition of financial excellence CVSan has received this year. In March, CVSan also received the Operating Budget Excellence Award from the California Society of Municipal Finance Officers (CSMFO) for its fiscal year 2017/18 budget.

The CAFR is the document that presents the audited financial position of CVSan as of June 30, 2017 and the results of operations for the fiscal year 2017/18. It has been judged by an impartial panel to meet the high standards of the program including demonstrating a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate potential users and user groups to read the CAFR.
