CVSan’s Third Repair Workshop was a Success!
Over 74 percent of the items were repaired and a total of 151 pounds of potential waste was diverted from landfill.
On Saturday, August 6, 2016, Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) presented Castro Valley’s third Fixit Clinic at the Castro Valley Library. Fixit Clinics are “pop-up” activities where participants bring in broken items and are provided tools to learn how to fix their item. Residents brought a variety of broken, non-functioning items to the event, such as a CD player, a coffee maker, a pressure cooker, a few tablets, and lots of bicycles
Eleven Fixit Clinic volunteer coaches were on hand to help attendees assess the problem with their broken item and provide their expertise to assist in fixing it. A special thank you to seven local Castro Valley volunteer coaches: Dave Coleman, Charles Glorioso, Jay Palmer, Sarah Foster-Peck, Robert Fong, Mike Barbaro, and Ron Eversole for donating their time to the event! Over 74 percent of the items were repaired and a total of 151 pounds of potential waste was diverted from landfill.
