CVSan’s Seventh Repair Workshop was a Success!
More than 54% percent of the items were repaired and a total of 274 pounds of potential waste was diverted from landfill.
On Saturday, June 23, 2018, Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) presented Castro Valley’s seventh Fixit Clinic at the Castro Valley Library. Fixit Clinics are “pop-up” activities where participants bring in non-functioning items and are provided tools to learn how to fix their item. Residents brought a variety of broken, inoperative items to the event, such as wristwatches, blenders, lamps, sewing machines, and even a bicycle!
Eleven Fixit Clinic volunteer coaches were on hand to help attendees assess the problem with their item and provide expertise to assist in fixing it. A special thank you to 10 local volunteer coaches: Bill DeVore, Charles Glorioso, Dave Coleman, Domilyn Wickum, James Hauk, Joe McGiffin, Matthew Sanders, Robert Fong, Sarah Foster-Peck, and Shreya Annamaneni for donating their time to the event!
