CVSan’s Used Motor Oil Filter Exchange Program Begins October 2nd
Participants will receive a coupon for a new oil filter when they place their used oil and and filter curbside.
Do you change your own oil and live in a single-family home? From October 2nd to November 10th, participants in CVSan’s award-winning Used Motor Oil Filter Exchange Program will receive a coupon in the mail for a new oil filter when they place their used oil and filter curbside.
There are four easy steps for residents to participate in the program:
- Drain the used motor oil filter from an automobile, motorcycle, or boat into a pan for 24 hours. This is an important step because filters can hold up to a quart of oil.
- Place the filter in the zippered bag that comes in Waste Management of Alameda County, Inc.’s (WMAC’s) free recycling kit. To obtain a free recycling kit, contact WMAC at (510) 537-5500 or pick one up at CVSan Offices at 21040 Marshall Street, M-F, 7:00 a.m.–4:00 p.m.
- Notify WMAC’s Customer Service Center, M-F, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m. at (510) 537-5500 that you are participating in the program at least 24 hours before setting out used motor oil and filters curbside.
- Leave the sealed bag next to your used motor oil at the curb and WMAC will collect it on your regular collection day.
Residents can receive a maximum of one coupon* per household per week during the filter exchange program period. Visit www.cvsan.org/usedoil for more information on how to recycle used motor oil and filters.
