They are able shop for free at the thrift store for clothes for job interviews and school as well as items to furnish a new place to live after graduation. Proceeds from the thrift store directly support the women and children at Shepherd’s Gate by providing care, safety, education and encouragement as they rebuild their lives. On Saturday, July 28th, Castro Valley Sanitary District (CVSan) in coordination with Waste Management of Alameda County, Inc. (WMAC) hosted a free tour of the Davis Street Transfer Station for CVSan residents and business owners. Twelve attendees experienced a firsthand look at the organics transfer facility, garbage transfer facility, construction &amp; demolition material recovery facility, and the WMEarthCare Center, where locally sourced and produced compost and mulch are made available for the public.
