
CASTRO VALLEY, CA — An Alameda County Sheriff's Deputy administered a dose of Narcan, also known by the name Naloxone, to a man at a Castro Valley grocery store, according to a Tweet from the sheriff's office.
The man is now recovering.
Narcan is given to reverse an opioid overdose. It has been issued to deputies who have used it several times to save people in the community or at the county jail. Deputies sometimes arrive at emergency scenes before paramedics.
