Elderly Woman Purposefully Mowed Down By Driver In Church Parking Lot

Authorities have released video of the Castro Valley crime, hoping that someone recognizes the car or driver.

CASTRO VALLEY, CA — The Alameda County Sheriff's Office has released a video of a man appearing to deliberately ram an elderly woman with his car in Castro Valley on Saturday, in hopes of identifying the suspect.

The collision happened in the First Presbyterian Church parking lot on Grove Way.

In the footage, a 77-year-old woman with a walker is struck with what is believed to be a mid-2010s white Nissan Altima. The woman is forced up onto the hood while the driver continues forward.

The Sheriff's Office called the event "horrific" and said only that the woman was injured, but not to what extent.

The suspect can be seen from the back at the beginning of the video, walking to his car.
