Nonprofit Dramatic Arts Academy Hosts Theater Workshop for Forth and Fifth Graders

The Castro Valley Dramatic Arts Academy (CVDAA) is a not for profit organization formed to transform the lives of youth in the community through creative expression in the dramatic arts. CVDAA will offer a new class for 4th and 5th grade elementary students. The organization offers classes for students of all ages up to the university level aiding students in exploring their creativity, imagination, and most of importantly: themselves.

CVDAA classes encourage students to have fun, be nice and try something new. Any student with an interest in learning how to act, direct, write for the theatre, or even just be part of a theatrical workshop is encouraged to participate.

Students will study acting technique, improvisation and voice for the theatre as well as play theatre games and perform exercises designed to stimulate and focus their creative imagination.

 The first workshop will meet on Monday Jan. 23 from 4 to 5 p.m. in room B-5 at Canyon Middle School, and will continue to meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 4 to 5 p.m. from until March 21 (except for school holidays).

Then on Friday, March 23 at 7 p.m. an informal presentation to parents, friends and invited guests will be held.

Instructor

The workshop will be directed by Michael Lushington. Mr. Lushington is the president of Castro Valley Dramatic Arts Academy (www.cvdaa.org) and has an MFA in Directing for the Theater from Brooklyn College and has been directing Theater Workshops in the Castro Valley School District for over 10 years. 

Workshop Fees

The workshop will consist of 19 sessions and costs $200.00, payable to Castro Valley Dramatic Arts Academy. Financial assistance is available to those students in need. Please contact Michael Lushington for more information. (See Contact Information below)
