Glimpse Of Hope In The Ashes

Amidst the rubble and ashes of the North Bay fires, local sheriff's deputies deployed through Mutual Aid find a sign of hope.

ALAMEDA COUNTY, CA — Alameda County Sheriff's deputies are on their fourth day of helping in the North Bay, deployed behind the fire lines in Sonoma County to prevent looting, patrol neighborhoods and help with evacuations should more become necessary.

They've seen bleak scenes that will stay with them for a lifetime.

But on Thursday they came across a sight that lends hope. According to ACSO, "Deputy Stuart Barnes took this photo in a residential neighborhood in Santa Rosa. With temperatures of 1200+ degrees it’s unbelievable this American Flag is still standing. That’s the weird thing about this fire. You see block after block of devastation and every now and then you see something uplifting. This flag is not just beautiful, it represents who we are as a country and why we serve each other. It’s times like these when you realize how lucky we all are to have each other."
