Hayward UPS Workers Test Positive For COVID-19: Report
Several Bay Area UPS branches have seen cases in their ranks, Bay Area News Group reported.
HAYWARD, CA — The union representing UPS workers says better safety protocols should be in place after workers in Hayward and across the Bay Area have tested positive for COVID-19, Bay Area News Group reported.
Four or five Oakland and Hayward workers and three San Francisco workers tested positive for COVID-19, Teamsters Local 70 Secretary-Treasurer Marty Frates told BANG. He likened the close-quarters working conditions at UPS to meat processing facilities, which have been hit hard by the coronavirus.
Employees at the San Ramon shipping center reportedly learned Wednesday that a co-worker had tested positive for the coronavirus, but UPS did not elaborate on who they had been around or where they worked, BANG reported.
