Man Dies In Weekend Rollover ATV Crash

The unnamed Hayward resident died at the scene despite life-saving measures, police said.

HAYWARD, CA — A 37-year-old man riding an ATV in Hayward died over the weekend after rolling over, police said.

Officers responded at 3:10 p.m. Saturday to Peterman Avenue and Linfield Lane to reports of a rollover accident involving the ATV.

The Hayward resident was found suffering from injuries and despite life-saving measures died at the scene.

Police said the rider was identified but his name will not yet be released.

Law enforcement said it is believed that the man was traveling at a high rate of speed when he failed to negotiate a turn causing the vehicle to roll over.

It is still unknown if alcohol or drugs was a factor in the death of the man, police said.

The death marks the city's sixth fatal collision this year.
